Over the last week Coho Salmon have started to stack up along the West Vancouver
shoreline! Fish in the 3 to 7 pound range are feeding on herring and crab larvae
from Dundarave down to Point Atkinson. Productive depths have been from 20 to 50
feet. Hootchies, anchovies, and small spoons have been the ticket. Mixed in with
the coho, there has been a few decent chinook as well. The Gulf Islands continue
to produce decent numbers of Chinook Salmon and Ling Cod up to 30 pounds! If you
are looking for a half day fishing charter, a West Vancouver coho trip is the trip
to do! If you are looking to make a day of it a 10 hour Gulf Island trip is definately
worth it! As we progress into July, Coho numbers will increase in Vancouver Harbour
and the numbers of chinook will increase as fish get ready to head into the Fraser
and Squamish Rivers.
