Mayfield Lake Musky Frenzy

Postby T.Reis » Mon May 21, 2012 9:12 pm

Me and my buddy hit Mayfield Lake this past Saturday. The 19th of May. Early season musky fishing on Mayfield isn't typically good. I think the moons aligned. We ended up putting 8 muskies in the Frabill. My best day ever fishing muskies. Here in Washington or back in Wisconsin. Got one on a jignpig and the rest all on spinner baits. At one point, no kidding we had taken 20 casts and we had 10 fish follow those casts.10 fish to 20 cast ratio. Crazy. We actually had fish criss crossing each other. All those fish were 40" inchers or better. Didn't see any of the big 50 inch fish but none-the-less pretty heart stopping stuff for musky fishing anyway! We got 8 like I said. A 24,26, 27, 33, 43, 43.5 and 2 44.5 inchers. Unbelievable day! I haven't been on here for awhile Nelly, sorry. But will be contributing more often this year.

What an epic day of musky fishin Todd. Days like that just don't come along all that often. Pretty darned cool man thumbup

Here's one of two muskies I've caught in my life. Caught them both on the same day right in front of the kids swimming area on Pineview Reservoir near Salt Lake City. I think the year was 1997, give or take. Not sure what they were doing there or why I decided to cast towards the cork line, but I winged a cast up along the corks and WHAMMO...Fish On! They must've been eye-ballin' the kids flopping around inside the swimming area for an easy meal. We didn't measure either them. Figured they were between 15 and 20 pounds. Super fun and very, very lucky!
