FRESHWATER

The March 1 early lake opener is coming up. The decent weather that we have been having might produce some good fishing. A couple of popular choices for this opener are Lenice and Nunnally Lakes in eastern Washington.

Pass Lake should be seeing some early chironomid hatches due to the warmer temps on certain days. February is usually a good bet for an early fly fishing adventure in Pass Lake.

Springers should start to roll in to the Columbia system soon. There was a report of the first fish of the year being landed two weeks ago.

SALTWATER

Marine Area 7 has been pretty decent over the past week. One customer just noted that he and his friends have been able to limit on a few outings in the outer portions of the islands. He said that most of the fish have been running in the ten pound range and Presidents Channel has been very consistent. Another customer said that he has been doing very well at Sucia/Parker Reef and Pt Lawrence over the past couple of weeks. The Roche Harbor Derby concluded with more fish landed than in last years derby. The five top fish were all in the 16 pound range.

A customer just sent us a picture of a nice blackmouth he caught off Camano that weighed in the upper teens. He was fishing today at Onamac Pt.

The Anacortes Salmon Derby tickets are still available although there are only about 200 left meaning that 800 are already sold. This derby usually sells out very quickly. The first prize this year will be $15,000. Dates are March 31 & April 1. Visit www.anacortessalmonderby.com for more info.
