Well there was not much bait found in front of the slap pile or Owens beach and the fog was HORRIBLE! Kept praying the ferry was staying on course so it did not plow me into the bottom of the sound
Guess I will be eating turkey after all. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I don't seem to find many blackmouth in MA 11

Thanks for the report shaft! Sorry you were not successful though. According to the WDFW creel reports, it looks like fishing has been pretty slow compared to central and north sound areas. Stay at it, my guess is fishing should get better as we move into December. Keep submitting reports even if you draw a blank, but hopefully you will get a few very soon! Tight lines! Olympic

Your first sentence was the key. If you are not seeing bait, chances are that fishing is going to be tough. Good luck in the future and don't hesitate to pick up and move if your screen is blank.

Well was at it again fishing the tide change, but no takers. Fished in front of gig harbor and the boat house. Lots of bait, but no action. Was running in the 150 ft range and trying to stay on bottom. Was running green spoon w/skirt and green flasher. And a hoochie on the other rod.

BUT.... On our way back to the narrows marina we were just north if the narrows bridge when we seen a pod of orcas about 100 yards away. Pulled up closer to the real slow and killed the motor. They were very curious of us and came right up to the boat. It was a pretty cool experience. And the other one was tearing a seal a new one.

Shaft, Thank you for the report. Sorry you did not have any success, but when the Orcas move in the success rate usually goes way down. I hope that is a transient pod because it is my understanding their diet is mostly seals and sealions, and there is plenty for them to feast on in our neck of the woods for sure! Personally I hope they stay for a few days and clean the area out to put it back into balance. You mentioned that you launched @ Narrows; have you considered joining TOA? That is the 2 lane ramp located a bit north of Narrows closer to the bridge. They are a good organization; the December meeting is tonight starting @ 7 pm. You are welcome to come check it out.

Olympic, I would like to attend the meeting, but I am in the army and will be leaving in a couple months and then for good in April. Just hate to get comfortable and then have to bail, but thanks for the offer. For now I will just continue to pay outrageous launch fees.
Going up to kingston friday night or early saturday to try my luck up there. It will be my 1st time in that neck of the woods.

Shaft, You are still welcome @ the meeting but I am truly sorry you will be leaving the area! I want to personally thank you for your service in the Army! The Kingston area is a nice place to fish; you can either run south to Jeff Head, fish out front by Appletree, or head north towards Pt. No Point. I have fished several times up there, but it has been a few years. Back then I liked on the incoming tide, Jeff Head (south of the yellow house area), Pilot point. I liked on the outgoing tide, Jeff Head (North of the big white house area) Kingston, Appletree to Eglon, and Point no Point. Be sure to check the regs to make sure these areas 9, 10 are open!
