Last Saturday I heard the weather report for the straits on The Outdoor Line and called up Olson's and let them know that they should be expecting my father my friend Alex without a doubt. We hit a little traffic on the way up on friday but got there and headed to bed for an early morning.
Saturday went well. with about 4 fish on the line though only one was a keeper. Around 6 or so pounds. The weather in the afternoon got real bad and at one point our downrigger balls got fowled up. Luckily I was able to get them untangled without loosing and gear or more importantly any fingers.

Sunday was another day that went real well getting 4 to the boat though only one was a keeper this time it was around 11 pounds (Score). We lost one fish that was a very big fish and went on a couple runs before it shook the hook.
Finally this morning we decided that we would start real early so we could get on the road earlier in the day to be able to drive to Tacoma then back up to Seattle.
We were able to pick up a 23 inch hatchery a 12 pound hatchery and the finally around 10:15 I dropped my Grunden Bibs to use mens room. Right when I finished I heard my Dad yell at me over my shoulder that I am getting a bite on my rod. so without little thought of the current state of my clothes I grab the rod and start bringing up the slack. Once that fish found out it had a 3/0 hook in its lip it made a couple runs with finally it ending up in the net (the way it is supposed to happen). That fish in the net turned out to be a 21 pounder blackmouth.

This is my largest Washington fish to date. I have had my fair share of 15 -18 pound fish but none over the 20lb mark especially with a blackmouth. If only we were in the derby this weekend I would be 10 thousand dollars richer.
All and all it was an amazing Presidents weekend. And glad we could enjoy it at Sekiu Washington and Olson's resort.
