Area 7 Opener

Postby t_dub » Sun Jul 01, 2012 3:38 pm

good morning for us. limits by 0930. picked up my 12# hatchery in Obstruction around 0645. feisty little bugger who thought he weighed 10# more than he did. made three really nice runs. was pretty surprised when we finally saw him. still good quality though. had a couple small squid and candlefish in his gut. partner got his 14# fish right on Tide Point at tide change. ended up CnR a third one around 15# under Eagle Bluff while we were waiting for the tide to flood in so we could get the boat out at Washington Park.

lots of boats out there, but didn't see much catching.

I saw a few caught in Obstruction but not by us :(
We went zero for three chances. Just wasn't our day.
There was a few fish around as we marked enough fish and bait to make us stick around through the tide.

Gonna try again on Friday!

Good job, guys! We started at Lawrence and saw only 1 fish boated. We marked more than I've seen in a long time. Couldn't seem to put it all together though. In all the years I've been fishing the San Juan's, I don't think I've EVER seen that many boats out. We're going to shoot out on Wednesday and see if we can get the skunk out.........

we were marking a bunch of bait and some fish in there too. not sure why there wasn't much action. did notice a bunch of the boats were trolling really slow, like barely making any headway into the current???? looked like saturday of the derby in there; too much pressure? figure 40 boats, average two set ups per boat, 80 flashers trailing various things. might make me a little shy too.
