Super Bowl Sunday Possession Bar Blackmouth

Postby House » Sun Feb 05, 2012 9:22 am

No day off on Super Bowl Sunday for Nick Kester of All Star Charters, especially on a flat calm, sunny day!

The outer west bar produced two blackmouth this morning for these lucky All Star Charters clients!

Cannon downriggers dragging QCove's Jim's Breakaway flashers ahead of Silver Horde Coho Killers and 3.5" Cookies & Cream Kingfisher tailwaggers fished on the bottom in 120' of water were the ticket today.

Bait has been a little scarce in Area 9 lately but it's probably due to a low-exchange or "neap" tide series. Look for things to improve when the spring tides return! cheers

I agree. Today wasnt much better. We had a dbl header of undersized fish first thing this morning and that was it. Fishfinder was a desert for most of the day. Think im gonna save my energy for the Oly Salmon derby next weekend.

Had lines in the water by 0700 on sat on the east side of the bar, five min later we put a 22 incher in the box, 20 min later had a double header that produced a 7# for the box and a 5# wild released, over the next couple hours we had lost 2 and placed another 5# in the box. Talley for the day was 3 kept, 4 wild released and 4 lost. Best day of blackmouth action i have ever had, also had a very large Killer Whale breach about 30' off the starboard side twice as we where leaving for the dock around noon. Watched the Fish & Game biologist in front of us land at least 3 between 9am and 10:30 on top of that. Green flasher with a white lighting coho killer the whole time
