North Marine Area 10 Chinook C&R:...Smokin'!

Postby House » Mon Jun 20, 2011 7:22 am

The catch-and-release season opened in Area 10 on June 1 and it's open until July 15th when the entire area opens for hatchery chinook retention. Remember that this fishery is open only north of a line from Point Monroe to Meadow Point.

Capt. Nick Kester of All Star Charters had a banner day on Saturday boating 9 chinook to the upper teens including this hatchery fish that bit the "Spoochie" or hootchie-tail Silver Horde spoon!

Is anyone mooching for these kings? There shouldn't be many dogfish around this early and with that many fish in Area 10 a guy could do well. 17 pound mainline, 14 pound leaders, 3 to 4 ounces of lead...uh huh! Lighten things up and have some fun :)

I've been mooching more these days.
In fact, our last day up north, we didn't saddle up the trolling gear at all!
I'll bet Capt. Keith of Spot Tail Guide Service is mooching these A10 kings!
