Clams and Clam Chowder 6
The aroma of clam chowder is filling the air in the house right now and I can't wait to sample my first bowl. Endsley invited my wife Sonya and I to join his family in Ocean City on Saturday for some razor clam digging. Having never had the chance to dig razor clams before, I decided to make the drive and join in on the fun. With low tide at 4:30 we decided to meet out on the beach at about 2:30. I expected to see a few people out there but I have to say that I was completly shocked to see the numbers of people on the beach. As far as the eye could see in either direction was a line of people digging away for these tasty little morsels.
After arriving and seeing all of the people already working away I quickly put the waders on, grabbed my new clam tube and went to work.
After a quick lesson from Robbo's dad and some spotter help from Bear Holmes we got our limit of 15 clams a piece in about 4o minutes. Next, I had to figure out how to clean the clams which once again, I had never done before. Luckily for me, I knew that we had a video on CLEANING RAZOR CLAMS on the Outdoor Line to show me how.
After viewing the video, I got busy and made short work of our 2 limits of clams.
Thanks Robbo, family, and Bear for the help. I will see you guys on the beach for the next opener. I have to go now, Sonya just set a big bowl of steaming clam chowder down in front of me.
Took me time to read all the comments, but I really enjoyed the article. It proved to be Very helpful to me and I am sure to all the commenters here! Keep up the good work…..

Hey Nelly, those razor bellies will smoke up just fine.
I sure especially enjoyed this blog. You guys do such a great job. What a great show on Saturday mornings. Looking forward to hearing you guys for 3 hours!!! By the way, "Aunt Hazel" in Yuma is really missing the show. (No she does not have a computer!!). Marie Olson
My "pearl" of wisdom is: Don't eat razor clam bellies. They're not as good as salmon bellies...
I know I did but Robbo waaaaaaaaaaaaay outkicked his.
