NW Paddling Festival May 9-10 / Fishing Clinic

As I mentioned on The Outdoor Line today, The Northwest Paddling Festival will be happening this year on May 9th & 10th at Lake Sammamish State Park. For more details, visit their website http://northwestpaddlingfestival.com/ka ... ng-basics/
If you're in the market to buy a kayak or stand up paddle board, this is the event not to miss. For $7, you get a wristband and you can demo any one of their many brands that will be there for the festival.
On Saturday, May 10th at 10:30 am I will be teaching a Kayak Rigging and Fishing Clinic at the festival. This event is free to the public. We will discuss kayak selection, ways to rig your kayak (fish finders, rod holders, etc) and of course how to target fish. Lake Sammamish and Lake Washington has a year round fishery for Cutthroat Trout. These fish are fun to catch while trolling. I'll be going through my preferred set up of using lead core line.
Following the clinic, we will take things out on the water and try some fishing. You must have the $7 wrist band and bring your own kayak and fishing gear if you plan to fish with us on the water.
Suggested gear includes a rod with 18lb lead core line, weighted fly line or mono with an inline half ounce sinker. If you're using lead core, I suggest a 50 ft / 10 to 12lb mono leader. Lures include Size 1 & 2 Needlefish Spoons, Wedding rings, Dick Nites and Rapalas. Fly fishermen often us a baitfish pattern.
