From Mrs. JohnnyCoho...
My name is Corrina Koenig. My husband, John and I own “John’s Guide Service”, a fishing and hunting guide service out of Rockport, Washington. We have been in business for almost 20 years in Skagit County. A few years ago we were introduced to the non-profit foundation, “Wounded Warriors in Action”. This foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit foundation that serves our Nation’s combat wounded Purple Heart recipients by providing world-class outdoor sporting activities as a means to recognize and honor their sacrifice, encourage independence and connections with communities, and promote healing and wellness through camaraderie and a shared passion for the outdoors. With both John and I coming from strong military backgrounds, it seemed a great fit.
You may be wondering how this works, let me explain. “Wounded Warriors in Action” (WWIA) serves Combat Wounded Veteran, Purple Heart Recipients. The foundation through grants, donations and the pure generosity of people like you sends these veterans all over the country to hunt and fish with other Purple Heart recipients. Thus promoting a healing process; through nature and the camaraderie of fellow veterans who are going through the same mental, spiritual and physical challenges. These sporting activities are at absolutely no cost to the Purple Heart Recipient.
Our roll with the WWIA started out as guides, wanting to help a very worthy cause. We brought in some of these veterans for fishing and hunting trips. What happened from there was an awakening. You cannot imagine the impression the “Wounded Warriors in Action” makes on our nations combat wounded. The healing and bonding that takes place within these heroes in just a short weekend of fishing or hunting is nothing short of miraculous. This healing is something that has to be witnessed to be believed.
John and I have decided that this is a cause that we can get behind, completely behind. Here is the part where I ask for your help. Because these trips are at no cost to the Hero, we need folks like you who are willing to give just a little bit to help in the healing of our Nations most treasured assets. Weather it is time, meals or cash donations, we could not do this without your help.
For 2013 “John’s Guide Service” has donated (3) three sporting trips to the Wounded Warriors in Action. All three trips will be run out of Rockport, Washington. We will be sponsoring a Spring Chinook Fishing Trip June 7-10, a Black Bear Hunt August 4-11 and a Pink Salmon Fishing Trip September 20-23. We will have 4 heroes here for each event. While we are covering the cost of the sporting event, we need your help with meals, lodging, permits, tags, butchering, taxidermy and transportation. On average it costs the foundation $1,500.00-$2,000.00 per hero, per event to make this happen. This includes flights, accommodations, transportation, meals, permits/tags, gear, butchering /taxidermy and the cost of shipping. So, you can see why we are asking for your help.
We plan on having a fundraising event for all three trips in June; Place and time to be announced soon. If you have something that you would like to donate to our raffle for the fundraiser, please let us know.
If you are interested in helping this very worthy cause please contact John or I. Our contact information is below. You can also make a cash donation by contacting John or I or you can go directly to the WWIA site at www.wwiaf.org or our Guide site at www.johns-guide-service.com and make a donation on line with a credit card. As a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, all or a portion of your donation may be tax deductible. Our tax ID # is 26-0718304.
We appreciate your consideration,
Corrina Bea Koenig
