I've been working on a new nesting commercial style trap. Very simple to prepare and deploy:

That's a really slick trap. Imagine how many pots you can stack up on deck without cluttering everything up. They would also be slick for the yachty people travelling thru BC and Alaska in the summer. Are they legal in Alaska by any chance? Either way...pretty slick 8-)

I like 'em too!
Really simple, space-saving design! 8-)

Not sure if they are legal in AK. They could be easily configured to. They are currently built to WA puget sound specs.

I do alot of salmon fishing in the puget sound on a 15' skiff and got irritated that I was always leaving my crab pots at home because:

1. Commercial pots take up too much space
2. Space saving pots (fold up) are too much of a hassle to prepare out on my skiff.

I wanted something that I could prepare at the boat launch, throw in my boat and deploy with a minimum amount of hassle, while maintaining some amount of space savings.

They really become advantagous over traditional traps when you are fishing 3 or more traps.

It's still a concept/prototype, but I'm working on reliable supplies in the future.

I don't think he has them in full production yet but he has a very slick system and Nelly just informed me that they catch crab and lot's of them.

Funny, I thought I had one...I will stop in tomorrow so that you can pay tax on using my pot!

I'm ready, willing and more than able to pay the "rental" on those pots but I cannot deliver...You must pick up the tax assessment in person... :P

I have been building hobby volumes in my garage but I need to get the idea into the hands of a formal manufacturer who can take the concept and get it to the general public at a reasonable cost. Hopefully something will happen soon.

There are close to a dozen of them out there so far.
