Just got a new kayak and can't wait to get it out on the water. I want to set it up for salmon on the sound. Can't wait for July so I can drop a crab pot and troll or moch for salmon. Does anyone have any gear suggestions: depth finders, trolling from a kayak tips, techniques, etc

One tip when crabbing is to make sure you keep them in a container of some sort while in the kayak. I know of a guy that just dumped them out in his kayak, it didn't work out to well for him  As far as gear, they do make downriggers for kayaks, they are hand crank but work well.

Yeah, I imigine that insn't such a good idea. I have an enclosed rear hull that I plan on using - it should easily hold my limit.

I have found a supplier of all kind so stuff to set up a kayak for fishing - Scott something or other. They make pole holders, down riggers, crab pot pulling systems, and many other accessories for kayaks. It's very cool.

I just got a depth finder for fathers day that I'll be installing as soon as it arrives.

I can't wait for crab and salmon on the sound

I hear you BikeGuy!
Half the fun of enjoying our local fisheries is getting your boat and/or gear ready!... Well, ok. Maybe less than half, but you get the drift.

We're less than two weeks away from the best crabbing season in years! I can't wait! :o
