Next shrimp opener: May 25th???

I just got off of the phone with Region 4 Shellfish Manager Mark O'Toole and there's a good chance of an additional shrimp opener on Wednesday, May 25.
The spring tides this week (-3.1 on Wednesday the 18th) would be tough on fishermen participating in the fishery, hence the delay.
Reportedly, the opener will take place in Marine Areas 8-1,8-2 & 10 outside of Elliott Bay.
The quota in Area 9 as well as Elliott Bay has been reached and therefore will remain closed.

This is not official until the Emergency Regulation has been released so keep your ear to the ground and your fingers crossed! 8-)

In the past year the WDF has waited until the day before to make the anouncement. The weather will be too nice for this Saturday. They will wait till the forcast is for rain and wind. Expecting to hear on Tuesday next week that it will be open on Wednesday.

Why Wednesday? last clam dig is this weekend, and less people will be able to shrimp because it is a work day.

That's what I'm talking about. To quote dumb or dumber, "Put another shrimp on the barbie!"
