I just listened to the podcast with Ron Gardner concerning the crab catch record recording. He mentioned there is increased spending ($90k) and checks of crab reporting, because the tribes are contesting the accuracy of the catch record reporting. They contend the sport angler is under reporting. My question is, what agency is responsible for independently checking the tribes catch? Not just crab, but salmon, halibut and all shell fish? I have personally seen fully loaded tribal boats come in and immediately offload their catch to waiting trucks for transport. Tribal personnel checking tribal fishing is not independent. Before the WDFW agrees to increase checks of the sport angler, they need to get the tribes to agree to independent checking of all catch.

What an absolute joke and slap in the face for the recreational fisherman again. If the WDFW agree to this then I will never ever buy another licence again in this state and just go across to Canada!

There should be a boycott of all casinos by fishermen if this goes ahead. The one way to hurt the tribes is their pockets!

Edit: I just received this from a fellow angler here on the Peninsula in response to their BS:.

"The tribes are a "sovereign nation" and they report to them self and then to the state. They have been caught before at Neah Bay with 25,000 kings 5 or 6 years ago when their limit was 500 and they dealt with the over take them self. Nothing we can do, that's the rest of the story, sorry to say".

This is the stuff that makes my blood boil!
