How do you share position information?

"I'm right in the middle of, well, about a mile off of..."
We've all heard this on the VHF and rolled our eyes but just how do you go about communicating positions to someone who has different electronics than you?
I've been getting a bunch of questions about different fisheries and it's hard to describe getting out in the ocean out of Westport to someone who wants to do it for the first time so, I send them this:
If we're talking Bouy 10 and someone wants to know how to safely cross the Columbia from the Washington side above the Astoria/Megler Bridge without going all the way around Desdemona Sands, they need to watch the mid-point of the run where it's time to angle back upstream toward Astoria.
The Navionics ap turns your smartphone into a chartplotter and you can send these screenshots to anyone that can receive text messages assuming you have cell coverage.
As my beloved MA9 fishery reached it's end all too soon (don't get me started...) it's time to reach out to other fisheries and thankfully, we've got options!
