Panama Restricts Longlining

Big news in Panama! Panama outlawed tuna purse seining back in July and outlawed the use of longliners over 6 gross tons on December 28th. When Martinelli took office he said he was going to bolster tourism in Panama and as a huge fan of fishing there I'm happy to see he's sticking to his word. Also have to give thanks to The Billfish Foundation and Chris Fischer, whom we've had on the show before, for all their help in this.

Here's the full story on the longliners:

...and a pic I took on Hannibal Bank back in 2008. Not sure if I'd want to eat anything from this boat. A small hold full of ice doesn't last long in a 95 degree pressure cooker. Nice!

That's great news Robbo, it's only going to improve an already great fishing experience. It's good to hear some of the efforts like the one's undertaken by the Billfish Foundation are paying off.
