I hadn't seen anything posted on the derby so I thought I would chime in. Overall it was a huge success and sold out (first year) for a total of 100 boats. 87 boats weighed fish, 53 boats weighed fish both days. Average weight was just over 8 lbs. and we weighed in 413 fish. Fishing was off the charts. If you weren't there you missed out!

First place went to Steve Martin 18.89 lbs.
Second Place went to Uncle Pete Nelson 18.22 lbs.
Third place went to Bill Havland 17.27

Thanks Dan!
You beat me to the punch. I'm still bummed out that I couldn't make it this year.
I love that event but I may have to do the Roche Harbor right after the boat show....

Nelly -
I found the Chinook code wire tag information from 2013 very interesting.

Out of the 25 CWTs 20 or 80% came from what could be considered to be early (spring or summer stocks. Given that typically only about 5% of the hatchery production returning to Puget Sound are from those early stocks that would seem to be an extra-ordinary contribution to the catch. Wonder if that the sort of contribution seen in 2013 is the "norm"/

While I was working the event on Sat I was sent this picture of the launch at Washington Park. It was a calm and beautiful day at Friday Harbor. I'm glad I wasn't trying to launch.
I may have to fish this derby next year.
