A couple in Sitka are hard at work preserving them so they will last for several generations if taken care of properly. They have a Face Book Page with some really cool hats made with Sea Lion and Sea Otters skins that they harvested. There is some pretty cool stuff made with seal also. Well we are still trying to get the Swedish Tribe recognized on POW so we can harvest a few of the tasty seals and soft sea otters skins.

Actually, I did see their work while I was there and that is certainly the type of pinniped preservation that I whole heartedly support!
