Red Offshore releases

I've been using the medium tension black Offshores for years. With 25lb mono I set the line all the way back in the clip. I still occasionally get a false release, thus the switch to the reds.

For the guys using the reds, can you give me a good starting point for how deep in the clip to set the line?

Hey DW,
Thanks for jumping aboard our Forum!
I love the Offshore Red releases and I place the line even with the two holes.
Fairly deep in the release and you will not get many false releases with the Offshore Red!! cheers

I agree, reds are the shiz. Tried one last year and next thing I know all my scotty clips came off and reds came on. Lined up with the back 2 holes is spot on.

If you use the "pro-release" you do not need to worry where you clip it and you can eliminate the top-shot of mono from your braid (assuming you are using braid). In my opinion, this is the best downrigger release ever made for deep water Chinook fishing. Most of the Puget Sound shops have them in stock. Recently, a start-up down in Oregon started to produce them again, including three new colors.

salvelinus I love the Pro-release. I have not seen them in a log while, do you know where to find them and the different colors sounds cool.
The red off shore release is also good, I use both. I started using the red off shore when I could not find the pro-release.
