Thanks for the link Duc. I drove up and down that highway many times and still can't believe the magnitude of this slide. I really feel for the families who have lost loved ones in this catastrophe. Just a horrible deal all around :(

It's an absolute tragedy for the region.
The slide quickly took four lives and there are still over a dozen souls missing.
I also feel bad for the Fire & Rescue brothers who have to work in that tangle of sand, mud, sticks, logs, rocks, power lines and mangled houses.
The Stilly will find a new path through the valley, hopefully its banks will solidify and again provide habitat for our salmon and steelhead.
For now, my thoughts and prayers are for all those families in the Oso community who's lives and homes have been taken.

The scale of the slide is just incredible. Even with the aerial photos, it's hard to wrap your mind around the size of the slide and the amount of area effected.
