I have seen and heard of a good number of fish being caught with the spoon and hootchie combo. I'd like to know why this works and how it is effective. I'd like to know if you fish the spoon faster or slower?

The spoon/hoochie or "Spoochy" aka "Tail wagger" is a very effective innovation.

It adds motion and enhances the size of a spoon without affecting the action very much at all!
I fish them the same speed as a normal spoon presentation and they are simply a way to mimic a slightly larger bait size.

I still fish spoons with bare hooks from time to time but the "Tail Wagger" is definitely another tool in my box!

I agree with TJ. In testing, we found the movement of the tailwagger to mimic a green label size herring.
It is interesting just to study the different "movement" of each type of spoon. The erratic coho killer,
3.5 Kingfisher, and waving like 3.5 Kingfisher Tailwagger each have quite different movements.

Thanks for the info. That helps me understand why and when to use the tail wagger. I like how it can represent a larger bait.
