Very good show on rigging for Springers, except you forgot one little detail, the terminal piece. Is it a spoon, a whole herring in a helmet, a cut plug, a piece of pork rind... what? Also wonder why the in-line flashers are never used ahead of a spoon or herring in Puget Sound? Any comments on that?

Well! I will have to tell Eric Linde that he forgot to mention the CUT PLUG!!!
Seriously, when you are doin' the downhill troll on the Columbia its strictly a headless herring drill.
As far as the use of in-line flashers in Puget Sound? Heck yeah, I use them!
Often, the middle downrigger will sport an in-line with a herring.
However, for use with flutter spoons such as the Kingfisher or Coyote, you can't beat the rotating flasher for the addition of action to a spoon or squid and the under water "thump" that has brought salmon running for generations... thumbup

I know Nelly uses them from time to time, but I honestly haven't heard of too many people having success with them down deep. They work for coho's up shallow and are the shiz in estuary fisheries like Grays Harbor and the lower Columbia.
