When looking at the display for bait, do you always assume those critters on the bottom are sand lance and those in suspended balls are herring? If so what is the correct hardware to use to immatate each specific type of bait?
Also in some of your live presentations you've shown pictures of your finder displays showing bait and salmon marking around those baits, can you post those display pictures with explanations as to what we are seeing?

I too would like to hear more on this. Specifically, I would also like to hear how to tune the unit to achieve these results.
I have tried playing with my FF but can't seem to tune it in any better that what the auto mode displays. I know what each function does, but not necessarily why I am adjusting it in one direction or another. I was even able to adjust it to see the thermocline in the water, but couldn't see the fish any better. I know they were there because I did this one day while I was anchored up at Baker Lake, and we were catching fish. So,,, I just chalked it up to OE and set it back to auto.

Hey Guys!
Great idea and I'm going to get to work on that very concept. I have a bunch of screen shots but with the new HDS gear the shots will only get better!
In addition to the position of the bait we're also looking at sizes of the marks and of course the all important gut content analysis!
Stay tuned, I'll have something up soon!

Here's a mammoth ball of candlefish up north. You can see what settings I have my HDS 10 on in this photo. After adding Structure Scan to my system last summer I found that I get the best image at around 75% sensitivity.

This is a 26 pound king salmon. I know this because we carpet bombed it with cut plug herring and it latched onto one of them immediately
