I have a 20 ft North River Scout and I need to finish my anchor system. What kind of rope double braid nylon, twist nylon or whatever you're using also size and length. I want to be able to anchor in the columbia, cowlitz, lakes and bays. I appreciate all the help, you guys have been a huge resource to me learning all the different fisheries we have available us.

1/2 inch twisted nylon will suit you fine. Buck up and buy a 600ft spool and make two lines out of it one for rivers , and one for deep water . one at 150 to 200 , the other 400 to 450 you can get a spool for around $250

I'm with J on this one!
1/2" or even 3/8" braided nylon should do you fine.
Double braid is for fender
s and dock lines but I sure wouldn't spend all that dough for a double braid anchor line!

Hmmm.
It seems the only use of the word "rope" was in the title
At least that's not as bad as calling your fishing rod a "pole"...

Check out Eric Linde's DVD Anchor fishing for Salmon & Steelhead lot's of Great info there... IMO 1/2" anchor line is overkill.

Also look into getting a Alaska ancor puller for deep ancor retrival, asuming that you dont have a winch.

Lee and Eric at Lee Lock Anchor Systems have a kick ass new anchor pulling product for deepwater anchoring. Here's a link:
http://www.leelockas.com/orval.htmlI thought this looked pretty awesome when Eric showed it to me the last time we talked. It allows you to un-clip the buoy from your anchor rope without having to use a stainless ring. Might be something to check out
