Ocean Shore Blacktails

We spent Thanksgiving with family down at Duck Lake in Ocean Shores and as usual the blacktails didn't disappoint. The Duck Lake neighborhood is a sanctuary for the darn things. Right when we drove into the neighborhood I mentioned to the wife..."OK keep your eyes peeled for a big buck." Less than 5 seconds later she says "There's a big one!!!"
This really nice 3x3 was in a guys back yard along with 4 other small bucks and a half a dozen does. He was all rutted up!
While I was taking his picture this nice forky came over looking for a handout. I've got your handout right over here in the trunk of the car...just a little closer now
As we kept driving we passed two more sets of small forkies fighting literally right on the shoulder. These two were sparring in an empty lot
Nicole and I went for a quick drive this morning and ran into a bunch more, including this beauty laying in the back yard of a million dollar home. He was with 3 more bucks and a bunch of does. Life is good for this guy
A bunch of does showed up at the house to put on a show for the kids
...and Ava got to pet her first "live" deer
If you're ever in Ocean Shores and want to take the kids to see a bunch of deer drive them thru the Duck Lake neighborhood. They hang out in there year round and unfortunately they don't wander far
