Recently my son Tyler said "Dad, I want to go fishing with you early in the morning"....so I took him out 2wks ago for the first outing...he went 8 for 8 with 3 blackmouth and 5 pinks, great outing...he was hooked....this last Saturday I was hooking up the boat at 4:30am and he heard the truck fire up, and he was downstairs dressed and ready to go without me having to wake him up...We trucked on down to 10th Street to launch the boat.. I do have to say this, it sure is nice that they use almost all the lanes to launch in the mornings, I think this started about 5yrs ago during one of the derbies. Anyway we started motoring out the channel with the rest of the flotilla....I asked my son what color he wanted to use this morning...he said "Black"...I showed him a Coho killer with some black...I asked if this is the one, he said "Yup Dad, that's the one"....we started fishing just West of Scatchet in about 500ft of water...we went 2 for 2, with this dandy...Unfortunately I didn't enter him in the Edmonds Derby....dang, I think he would have placed!!!

Great post. I didn't see how old your son is. Mine is 23 now and I love when we can get out and fish together.

My favorite memories of my dad have something to do with fishing.

I waited until my son was five weeks old to take him out on the boat.

Sharing the outdoors is one of the best ways I know to build strong family memories!

Nice work junior Nance! Looks like he is already out fishing his Daddy! :D

I'm going fishing in the Strait next week without my boy, it may kill him to stay in school. Of course, I will let him miss a few days for the mule deer though.

Nothing better than being out on the water with your sons. Be careful catching so many fish every time though, his expections might get too high :D

Awsome post,we all need to spend more time with the family on the water,or anywhere.Unfortunately they think we're just fishing.
