After kidding around with the other 1/2 of the cradle crew the Fennwick slump is over , I was comparing my rod with Figgins from the Mariners on how bad things have been.
After losing a monster King Wednesday morning off Jeff's head today I took home 2 hatchery king's and lost 1 other . 1 about 15 pounds the second about 8 or 9 pounds.
The first was caught coming out off Kingston at 6:00 am in 50 ft with a plug. The second was taken around 10:00 at 135 ft again with a plug.
The action between than was just as or more exciting . At 8:15 my Line pop's off the down rigger near Jeff's head, I grab my pole and it feels good for a second than goes slack, I'm reeling and than there's no line there, I see a fish swimming near the surface 60 feet behind the boat , partner turns back towards the action and says " a seal got your fish " , I said " waite a minute I can see the fish with the Lucky plug hanging out of its mouth " .
I grab the net because I want that plug back , as we get closer I'm thinking man thats a big fish .
Only to discover that a 6 gil shark has my fish & plug still hanging from its mouth . The shark stayed near the surface for a few minutes with the fish and both thrashing around , I sea gull dives towards the may lay and also turns away after seeing the 6-7 foot shark.
