Fishing at the Tulalip "Bubble" has been far from the biological desert we've seen the past few years. In fact, the fishing has been fair to very good this weekend!

WDFW Fisheries Tech Toby Black checks in with the following report:

"We got this one this morning at 90 feet with a dark green spatterback squid!"

"We have been marking some bait a little bit north of the red can and we actually saw quite a few fish taken this morning!"

Nice job Toby, good to see some fish being caught in that fishery this year.

Do the fish have to be clipped at the bubble?

Nope, you are free to keep a non-clipped fish in the bubble!

In the interest of full disclosure.... I got skunked at the Bubble this morning.
We fished from first light until 0900 there were seven other boats fishing and I didn't see anything going on.
The set nets were still in the bay and we marked very little bait and even fewer fish.

That being said, I might just give it a shot this evening. The nets should be out and given some of the numbers I heard last weekend I would be surprised if things didn't pick up! 8-)
