Sitka 2014 is pretty solid overall. A few rough weather days but the fish have been fairly cooperative

Left to right,..My ol' buddy Phil Michelsen, 710 ESPN's Michael Grey and yours truly with a load of halibut to 100 and kings to 22 lbs

More later.. gotta run now!

Larry Stauffer, his wife Dana and my wife Kathy joined me for a couple days in Sitka and we enjoyed a couple great days of action!

Good numbers but not huge fish...those kings will be headed to the smoker soon!

The Brock Huard party of three will be flying in today and we'll be doing The Outdoor Line live and on location from Sitka this Saturday! cheers

Brock's first full day in Sitka was full of chinook action but unfortunately a north wind that kept us from halibut fishing.

We did have an excellent morning on kings, hooking over 10 and landing eight up to 26 pounds along with a 34-inch ling and a few black rockfish. Left to right, Brock Huard, Larry Hills, Yours Truly and Steve Hoffman.

Tomorrow is our last full fishing day in Sitka and we're hoping to get the anchor down and get after the halibut one last time! cheers

Brock's last day in Sitka was bumpy but productive!

After our remote broadcast of The Outdoor Line from the Sitka Westmark we headed out and limited the boat on chinook.

We're flying home tomorrow and with all we've learned on this trip, I can't wait for the San Juan and Puget Sound chinook seasons! rockon

Sounds like lots of fun and fish too. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing some of the details about shipping your boat up north and back. How much (do they charge by foot?), contact info, how long each way- that kind of stuff. Also, where have you found are the best places to stay up in Sitka? If you want to answer this either here on this forum or on the show that would be great. Thanks Nelly and welcome back to the NW! wave

Hey Oly,
We have shared a bunch of this on Twitter @theoutdoorline and facebook as well as on these pages and I'm more than happy to share the info here as well!

As I write this I'm working on my annual Sitka blog but we do indeed ship the boat up on Alaska Marine Lines and it rides to Alaska way up high atop a barge!

The boat arrives in about a week and then we fly in on Alaska Airlines.
As far as the costs, you'll have to contact Alaska Marine Lines for your cost per foot and we stay at the Sitka Super 8 which is close to another nice hotel, the Westmark Sitka.

We've got a regular group of guys that share the costs but if you don't want to go to that extent, there are several great charter services in Sitka that will be happy to show you the ropes!

Try Derek Floyd at Reel Class Charters, Eric Linde at Horizon West Charters, Seth Bone & Don Orrell at Kingfisher Charters and Greg Kain at Kain's Fishing Adventures! cheers

Nice reports Nelly! Returned to Greg Kain's for my 3rd visit and was not disappointed during the time you were up there! Saw your boat trolling out on Shelikof Bay area on Tuesday the 10th and you were boxing a few when you looped us while we mooched! Nice quality of fish this year and 2 limit Chinook was a nice bonus too! quality halibut out at 700 foot line and limits of rockfish and another year of GREAT memories! Can't wait till 2015 to return!

Well, I finally got the annual Sitka blog done and here it is!

We learned a ton this time around and we're going to get seriously technical on the blog front this summer!

C'mon July! Let's go fishin! gears
