Lake Washington Report

Interesting day on Lake WA. Perhaps it was the pressure dropping? Maybe, but the bite was pretty hot for monster 20" + pike minnows (squawfish). I landed 5 all together. I also picked up a 19 5" cutthroat trout. All on a diving Bass Rapala. Everything got released. The water jumped to almost 55 degrees today. There's better fishing ahead.

Regarding all these pike minnow (which are native to the lake), I'm curious what others do with them? Fish and Wildlife say not to eat them. Many people want them gone because they eat everything (including salmon smolt). Under the state regs, you cannot unlawfully kill them- you have to keep them. Yet the Columbia River has a bounty on each one killed. Chime in.

Also, a couple here. If you're interested, we're putting on a free kayak fishing clinic on Lake Sammamish May 10th that I posted in the Forum News viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2244

Squawfish... Absolutly hate them. thumbdown

Can't lawfully kill them but you can accidentally bonk them on the head or accidentally pull their gills and release them to swim away! They for some reason always make it back to the surface and the eagles or ospreys pick them up, weird... rofl

The things eat everything and need to be removed... 50cal

Nick, I've done that a few times. Good to see nature taking it's course. I landed 21 pike minnow trolling the Matthews Beach area last year.

Hey, what was the KJM Swim Bait you were talking about on The Outdoor Line the other day that you use? See you on the water~

You can call Ken and get direct or pick up at Limit Out Marine in Pacific, Wa. They have a great stock of the bait in the good colors as well as the perfect jigheads to match. There is also a bass seminar this Wednesday from 7-9pm, great time to pick up baits and listen in!!!

Thanks. I was up at Three Rivers Marine the other day grabbing some of KGM's Sand Dabs and found them there.
