My buddy and I loaded up the kayaks and headed for Lake Chelan on Tuesday morning. We worked a good three mile stretch up at the south end of the lake. Trolling our typical trout set up of small Needlefish spoons and wedding rings tipped with a worm in shallow we picked up some 12-14" rainbow trout right near where we launched.

We switched our set up to kokanee gear and moved into deeper water but couldn't seem to mark any fish. Having read reports that the fish were showing up, there sure wasn't any boat traffic targeting them.

Day two, we moved up to the state park past the 25 mile campground. Again, we had the place to ourselves. The water is gin clear and you can see down about 30 feet. I picked up one wild rainbow that was 20" long. I'm assuming this is a big rainbow for the the lake.

Beautiful scenery this time of year and no crowds. Tight Lines~
