My buddy and I decided to change things up from the usual trolling routine and mooched for a couple hours Saturday AM. On first drift of the day he hooked up with a nice blackmouth but that was it for the rest of the morning. We are mooching rookies so we were pretty fired up to get a nice keeper.

Around the tide change there was a good bite for the trolling fleet and I definitely regretted not bringing the downriggers. Anyways we had a good time and there seems to be plenty of fish around for those willing to work at it.

Nice work and way to get your "mooch" on!

Keep in mind that mooching and trolling are your one-two blackmouth punch!

There are times and tides each day that trolling will out produce mooching and vice/versa.

It's our challenge as well-informed, aggressive salmon anglers to learn to recognize the conditions that indicate the use of a particular technique.

You've taken a HUGE step in that direction! rockon
