Mid Channel Birthday Gift!
Posted: Mon Jul 22, 2013 6:55 amMy brothers and I spent Thursday - Saturday fishing Mid Channel. After reading Nelly's blog we expecting lights out fishing. However, we found the fishing to be tough and had to put in a lot of work to scratch a couple kings each day. There were definitely fish being caught but it seems like a lot of the fish had moved through after Wednesday.
With that being said, the highlight of the trip was when my brother Chris (birthday boy!) picked up the rod on a hot fish. The way it was peeling line we weren't sure if a seal had grabbed it so we turned the boat and starting running it down. As we started to gain line and we knew it was just a nice fish. Turned out to be a 27.4lbs pound hatchery king! Not a bad way to celebrate your birthday!
