UPCOMING EVENTS

This Saturday, November 10, we will be hosting the Skagit Muzzleloaders. They will be setting up tents out in front of the store and offering free advice on how to operate a muzzle loader. If you are looking to get in to hunting or just shooting for fun, this would be a great way to learn. Also on Saturday, we will have a free professional decoy carving demonstration in our meeting room starting at 10:00AM.

FRESHWATER
The Skagit River is dropping back into shape thanks to the clear cool weather. One customer today just reported that he was pluning today and managed to land two coho and three chums(released). The coho fishing should be decent as the river drops back in this week.

The Cascade River is still pretty full of some older hatchery silvers but some early steelhead are starting to trickle in. Look for a few more to show up after the next high water.

General lowland lake fishing closed October 31 but the local year-round lakes should be productive for large rainbows or late kokanee. Look for decent fishing in Campbell, Clear Lake, and Samish.

SALTWATER
The San Juans were putting out some decent blackmouth before the Oct 31 closure. Look for good fishing on the December 1 opener in both Marine Areas 6 and 7. The Resurrection Derby will take place Dec 7 &8 with a $400 per boat entry fee and 100 boat maximum. Tickets have been selling pretty steadily. This has turned into a great winter derby.

Marine Areas 8-1, 8-2, and 9 are open for 2 hatchery blackmouth per day. There have been a few fishermen reporting catching fish down around Camano and Whidbey.

Look for steelhead to start showing up off the west side of Whidbey Island. We haven't had any good reports yet but this fishery usually peaks around Thanksgiving.

HUNTING
Waterfowl hunting has been pretty hot so far in comparison to recent years considering that it is still early in the season. We have good numbers of ducks and snow geese in the areas. The snows are spreading out throughout the valley more and more every year.
