Our guests could keep halibut below 45 inches and over 68 inches this summer and lings between 30 and 45 inches with a bonus ling over 55 inches. As I suspected measuring a halibut close to 68 inches proved to be quite entertaining. I finally resorted to lasso'ing them by the tail. "Guys...get your video camera's ready" was a line spoken quite often in July and August.

I never did get one to measure over 68 inches and to be honest I could care less. We released some awfully nice fish and hopefully they will spawn and make even more halibut.

The expanded ling slot meant we could bring in some really, really nice ling cod this summer.

Here's one that measured exactly 44 3/4" caught on Capt. Slim's boat. The bulge in it's belly is a big quillback rockfish spy

Dr. Barry Brown with another nice chicken halibut. In early June the halibut fishing was tough, tough, tough. The halibut poured into our waters in really good numbers in late June, however, making for some wide open action all summer long thumbup

Stam's legendary halibut that he fought for two hours in early June. One of our guests talked to a longliner at Ruth Ann's that cut loose a halibut he estimated at 500 to 600 pounds in this very same spot in May. Could it be...we'll never know :D
