Hello from South East Alaska! Our Stikine River Kings are starting to show up and getting better everyday. I am so excited and getting very anxious to get on the water and put a few in the boat before my first clients show up in a few weeks.

The King salmon forecast for Wrangell is better than last year with a substantial increase in Kings returning this year. So much, that Fish & Game just released the District 8 (Wrangell/Petersbrug) Sportfishing regulations and bag limits liberalizing the non-resident daily bag and annual limits. There regulations start May 1, 2012 and run until July 15, 2012. The limits are 2 King salmon 28” or greater per day with an annual limit of 6 Kings. This is a very nice increase from our 2011 regulations.

This is definitely something to consider when making your plans for that Alaska fishing adventure. Our King salmon derby starts May 12th and runs thru June 10th and is always a lot of fun to participate in. If you are the lucky one that lands the derby winner, it will pay you $6000! Definitely worth the cost of a ticket in my opinion. If you are thinking of coming to Alaska this year, remember that Wrangell is just a few short hours from Sea-tac airport and very easy to get to and don’t forget the liberalized bag limits!!

I have a few days left on my calendar for this year in both May and June and I am taking bookings for 2013. Give me a call if you are interested in putting a trip together this year, or hand pick your dates for next year and lock them in now!

Have a good week!
